An American Pit Bulldog is one that isn't an American Pit Bull Terrier but also isn't an American Bully. Its that "somewhere in between" kind of "pitbull". In the Battle Bred Family, we only recognize and register American Pit Bull Terriers that come from pure sporting background and that weigh no more than 75 pounds. These bloodlines usually go back to names like Sorrells, Jeep, Redboy, Chinaman, etc.
Now, The American Pit Bulldog, also known as the Bully Pit or in some cases even the Street Pit, might have some of these names in their pedigree as well but along side of others who are not from sporting heritage. This includes UKC's show type American Pitbull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, ADBA's Working Pit Bulldog, Classic or "OG" (working) American bully, and crosses of the four. We also allow Pitbull/American Bulldog crosses that fit the same look/style to be registered as APB as well. After all, when we study the history of the American Bulldog, we find that it was called the American "Pit" Bulldog at one point before they dropped "Pit" from the name. Looking back at many of the American Bulldog lines, you can find that some of them had alot of APBT influence.
The American Bully will also be registered "in a lane of its own". We judge this by looking at the dog itself. Most American Bullies when viewed from the front almost give a box shaped profile. The APBT or the APB is taller than it is wide.
